Chronel keeps your household’s routine so the people in it can share it. That is all it does with what you write, and you can take it with you or delete it whenever you like.
What is kept
- Your email address, so you can sign in with a link. There is no password.
- The name you are shown by in each household you belong to.
- What your household writes down: the routine, the days and what was ticked off, the people and pets, holiday dates, and conversations with the assistant.
- Short notes the assistant keeps about your household so it does not have to ask twice, such as “the bins go out the night before”. They are included when you download your data.
- If you turn reminders on, the address your browser gives us for sending them to that device.
There are no adverts, no analytics and no tracking cookies. The only things stored in your browser are what keeps you signed in and a few small preferences, such as whether the Ask panel is open.
Who else handles it
A few services make the app work, and each only for that purpose:
- Supabase stores the data and sends the sign-in emails.
- Vercel runs the website.
- OpenAI reads what you send to the assistant, along with the parts of your routine it needs to answer. We ask OpenAI not to store the conversation. Under its API terms it is not used to train their models, though OpenAI may keep it for up to 30 days to check for abuse before deleting it. If you never use Ask or Describe your week, nothing is sent to them.
- Your browser’s own notification service (Apple, Google or Mozilla) delivers reminders, if you turn them on.
Nothing is sold, and nothing is shared with anyone else.
If you give the assistant a link, for example to your school’s term dates, it fetches that one page to read the dates. The site you link to sees an ordinary request for the page, from our server rather than from you.
Where it is kept
Your household’s data is stored in the European Union, and the app’s servers run in Frankfurt. Two things can leave the EU: what you send to the assistant goes to OpenAI in the United States, and the website’s pages are served worldwide by Vercel’s network. Both transfers are covered by the European Commission’s standard contractual clauses, which are part of each company’s data processing agreement with us.
Why we use it
- To run the app you signed up for: your email, your household’s list and the conversation with the assistant. Without them there is nothing to show you.
- To keep it safe and working: short-lived technical logs, such as a failed sign-in, which help us stop abuse and fix faults.
- Because you asked: reminders are only sent after you turn them on, and stop when you turn them off.
How long it is kept
- Your account, for as long as you have it. Deleting it removes it straight away.
- A household’s list and conversation, for as long as someone is in the household. Clearing the conversation deletes it; the last person to leave deletes the household.
- A reminder address, until you turn reminders off on that device.
- Unused invite links stop working after a week.
Children
Accounts are for adults: you sign in with your own email address, and there is no way to make an account for a child. A household’s list will often mention children, such as their names, clubs and what to pack. That is kept like the rest of the household’s list, seen only by the adults in the household, and deleted with it. Write only what the household needs to run the day.
Who can see your household
Only the people in it. Someone joins only with an invite link one of you made, and an owner can remove anyone. Leaving a household takes you out of it straight away.
Taking it with you, and leaving
On the Households page you can download everything in a household as a file, and delete your account. Deleting it removes your sign-in and takes you out of every household. A household you were alone in is deleted with everything in it. One shared with others stays with them, including what you added to its list and what you wrote in its conversation, which is no longer linked to you.
Deleted data can remain in our hosting provider’s backups for a short while, until those backups are replaced. It is not used or restored from there.
Questions
Write to sjs89.dev@gmail.com and a person will answer. You can ask what is held about you, have it corrected or deleted, object to how it is used, or have it sent to you. Most of that you can also do yourself, on the Households page.
If you are not happy with the answer, you can complain to the data protection authority where you live.
